Amsterdam, 8:35 am
Before getting in to the tram I looked up at a beautiful sky, something I do not do often enough. The sky is like an ever-changing canvas, displaying a different painting every moment. Half a day later, it looked the opposite of this picture, when dark rain clouds poured down their contents upon the city.

Going solo
Between Amsterdam and Hilversum, 9:10 am
Sometimes I think that it would be great if you can be the only one in a train compartment. No talking or phoning people. No iPods with bad gangsta rappers spoiling the silence. Just me reading a comic or book. Of course that’s just a fantasy. Although in this photo it seems as if the compartment is empty, there are other travellers with me, they are just out of frame. It was still a pleasant trip to work, though.
Caffe latte
Café Nel, 1:30 pm
Yesterday, after a visit to the Concerto record store, I enjoyed some quality time on a terrace with a Caffè latte, or a ‘Koffie verkeerd’, as I still like to call them. I love the taste of coffee. And not only use the beverage to wake up in the morning. Although I most of the time need some kind of caffeine shot to get a jump-start. I am a big fan of Koffie verkeerd, cappuccino’s and regular cups of Joe.
Orange zombies
Vijzelstraat, 2:30 pm
Everywhere you look today, you see guys, girls, kids and dogs dressed in orange. It’s like an army of orange zombies taking over the world. Crazy stuff. In the seconds I tried to take picture of this building, heavily damaged by the construction of the North-South subway line, another orange zombie popped up. I will not be watching the world cup match tonight, since I do not give a rat’s ass about soccer. I think I’ll check out the local cinema. I’ll probably won’t have to reserve my seat. 🙂
Pulpman @ Athenaeum nieuwscentrum
Athenaeum Nieuwscentrum, Spui 7:15 pm
This week the display window of the Athenaum newscenter at the Spui is dressed up with artwork by Fred de Heij. He is a Dutch comic book artist and painter who’s one of the driving forces behind the magazine Pulpman. In the next issue of this magazine, number 8, there’s going to be a short comic story drawn by De Heij en written by yours truly.

Minck Oosterveer
Scheffersplein 1, Dordrecht 1:40 pm
Comic book artist Minck Oosterveer is signing books outside Stripwinkel Sjors, after I interviewed him in the house above the store. Minck and I discussed his comic Ronson Inc and his work on The Unknown, which is written by Mark Waid. The article will be published in Eppo in a couple of weeks.
