Trainstation Hilversum Noord, some weeks ago.
Thursday I shot two videos for the VARA. One about 15 years of ‘Zembla‘, the journalistic television programme of which Kees Driehuis is the editor-in-chief. I interviewed him about it, while my colleague Ilse was behind the camera. An hour later I shot an interview with television presenter Astrid Joosten. While waiting for Joosten I was just hanging out in the hallway, looked down and shot this picture.
This week I visited a lecture by Frank Meeuwsen at NPOX. The author of ‘Bloghelden‘ talked about blogging (of course). At the end of the presentation he gave away three books to people who had interesting questions. I got a copy. I bet you want to know what my question was 🙂
By the way, I shot some footage of his lecture and am currently checking whether or not I can distil a Daily Webhead video from it.
Mediapark, Hilversum 1:00 pm
I was editing a video-interview with Jan Tromp most of the day. That’s why I decided to take a stroll during lunch break. And had a relaxing time near the pond. I could sense the coming of autumn, which is always a great time. I am happy summer is almost over and it’s September again.
Media Park, Hilversum 5:30 pm
For my work at the VARA I make video reportages and interviews. Yesterday I shot an interview with presenter Menno Bentveld. My colleague Clementine did the interview, while I shot the shots. Although it was late in the afternoon and we figured every one would have left for home around that time, suddenly we heard some one whistle. When we went out to the hall to check out who it was, we saw the one and only Edwin Rutten. Ome Willem himself. One of my heroes from early childhood.
Sumatralaan, Hilversum 4:16 pm
Yesterday, on my way to the train I encountered a bus with an advertisement for a funeral home. Their site: Hetafscheidvanjeleven.nl. (The biggest goodbye of your life). A clever but rather distasteful slogan if you ask me. It’s not a bus-ride I am looking forward to, that’s for sure.
The Netherlands institute for sound and vision, Hilversum 9:30 am
The building of the Netherlands institute for sound and vision is near my workplace at the VARA on the Media Park in Hilversum. It’s a beautiful building that looks like a big, colourful gem. I walk by it every day. Today I stayed on stop longer in the train, so I had to take a stroll to work. Since I am sitting on my butt most of the day I thought a little walk was in order.
Just outside the Media Park, Hilversum 4:25 pm
The road is called Mies Bouwman boulevard, which I find a bit odd, because usually they only name a street after you, when you’ve died. And Bouwman, a former television celebrity, is still alive. I guess once you quit being on the tube, people think you’re dead already.
Hallie Lama’s garden, Hilversum 4:50 pm
Having a barbecue with some good friends in Hilversum. At the same time the Dutch soccer team is playing against Brazil for the world cup. Every time the Dutch team scores, people in the neighbourhood are cheering so loud, it startles the birds. A big flock of birds circles over the garden.
